Aim and Cam hit up a pet store a few days ago. The way the visit went down, according to Cam, is that he was this close to talking Aimee into a cat. In the end, they compromised on a fish. But boy did they quickly learn what new goldfish owners didn't know - that you can just pick out a random assortment of fish and go home with them same day. Nooooo, you've gotta get a new, huge tank, fill it up and let the water sit there a few days - and only then can you come back and choose some fish friends. We planned on getting 3-4 goldfish (I'm spacing on their names...they're the ones who look like their brains are bulging out of their heads), but there were more lessons to be learned! The type of goldfish we were looking at should basically have his own tank, shared only by a few of those tiny critters that suck goo off the rocks and glass. Anyway, after a lot of conversations and deep thought, we picked this guy (girl?):

He (I'll just go with that for now) is hilarious. It's like he doesn't quite know how to operate his body. He'll swim reeaaaaaalllll slow around the bottom of the tank, sometimes floating slowly up towards the top as if he's going for his food flakes. Then, without notice, he'll careen full speed towards the bottom of the tank full speed and half-smash his face into the rocks. Also, if you lock eyes with him and he stops swimming, he'll start tipping up vertically and then has to keep correcting his position to keep his eyes on you.

We don't have a name picked out yet, but candidates thrown around include:

  • Bruno
  • Flipper
  • Goldie
  • Schnooky
  • Toby
